La reconocida banda chilena de Atmospheric/Post-Black Metal,SOLSISTERE, publicó el día de hoy lo que es su nuevo lyric/video, y se trata del tema, "TheNarrow Path", que a su vez viene a ser el 2do tema promocional de lo que será el nuevo álbum de la banda.
El nuevo álbum será homónimo, tendrá 8 canciones y se espera que este en el mercado el próximo 15 de octubre, vía el sello discográfico Cult of Partenophe. El álbum fue grabado entre octubre y diciembre de 2020, en los estudios Sonido Origen de CarlosFuentes, quien a su vez debuta como guitarrista con la banda, al igual que el bajista PedroChavez. La mezcla y masterizacion estuvo a cargo del mismo CarlosFuentes con la colaboración de los demás miembros de la banda.
La portada estuvo a cargo del reconocido artista alemán ChrisKiesling de MISANTHROPICART, quien también ha trabajado para bandas como: BEHEMOTH, SARKRISTA, NECROPHOBIC, ASPHYX, BAPTISM, CREEPING DEATH, DEATHCULT, FRIISK, HELSLAVE, HIDEOUS DIVINITY, MAVORIM, SARGEIST, entre otras.
Con relación a este nuevo álbum la banda en exclusiva nos comento:
"Con este álbum volvimos un poco a nuestras raíces, si bien es cierto que nuestro disco anterior, "Extinguished Cold Light", es más directo, quisimos dar a este nuevo trabajo más atmósfera, siempre lo que buscamos transmitir con nuestra música es que las personas puedan generar sus propias emociones a través de sus propios estados, por lo que diríamos que nuestra música puede llegar a ser reflexiva".

On October 15, the new album by the brutal ChileanAtmospheric/Post-Black Metal band, SOL SISTERE, is scheduled to be released, for this reason we decided to interview them to learn more about them and their new album... This new album will be released by the Cult ofPartenophe record label.
First of all, thanks for accepting the interview, we started.
1. SOL SISTERE was born in 2013, tell us a little about your beginnings, how
you, Ricardo and Pablo (founding members) decide to create an Atmospheric/Post-Black Metal band, why not another style of Metal.
Ricardo: "In 2013, I decided to compose a couple of songs mixing my classic
influences of Melodic Black Metal from the 90's like Dawn, Dissection or
Sacramentum with the current atmospheric currents, but I did them more as a
compositional exercise than as a lasting proposal. I showed them to Pablo, whom
I had known for a short time, because I thought he would like them. Indeed,
they were to his liking and, talking about influences, we realized that our Black Metal side was quite related. It was he who came up with the idea of
developing that musical concept in a real, stable band and as a totally serious
project, which of course I agreed to, since it was a type of music that was
quite fulfilling for both of us. Together we continue to develop the musical
path that we wanted to tackle, meeting new relevant influences currently on the
scene and looking for the chord musicians to finally form the band. Like most
groups, the beginning was not easy and involved several musicians, but we
released the first EP and since then we have not stopped working.
Why not another style? It was not a calculated choice; it was rather an
inevitable impulse due to our musical tastes. Although we had both been in
bands of other metal currents before, that point in our lives led us to get
fully involved in Black Metal."
2. We know that the name of the band SOL SISTERE, comes from the Latin "solstitium", which means "The Sun stays still." Regardless of the language, for centuries, in various cultures, the summer and winter solstices have been taken as times of festivities and celebrations, since they indicate new beginnings. Why did you choose this name for the band?
Ricardo:"Indeed, "SOL SISTERE" literally means "still sun"
and that whole concept means "solstice" in Latin. The sun has always
been very significant for many cultures, it can represent immortality (because
it is reborn every day), the bearer of light (as in knowledge), the phases of
the Earth (or of life itself). In our case, in addition to respecting all these
meanings, we want to focus the essential idea on a more humanistic look and
think of the sun as the spirit of the human being, the solstice being the highest
point that we can reach."
3. For the year of its formation 2013, South America was not well known for
having good Atmospheric/Post-Black Metal bands, except for a few, in recent
years this trend has changed and there are very good bands from both Atmospheric
and Post-Black Metal, what do you think this is due to? What bands of those
styles in our continent could you recommend us?
Ricardo:"I feel that in some way, the Latin American scene in general tends to
be more conservative and tends to focus on paying tribute to the great classic
bands of the 90's. Although I mentioned that it was also our case in the
beginning, at this point we have already abandoned those influences of our
sound a bit, now that we have undoubtedly found a more own label. As a consequence
of the scene as a whole looking strongly to the past, I think it takes a while
for innovation and trends to explode in this region. By the early 2010s there
were very few Black Metal bands that dared to incorporate subtle and ambient
elements into their sound."
Some bands that I like are: Lluvia (Mexico), Urantia (Colombia), Thy Light
(Brazil), Sunvher (Chile), Missa Mortvm (Chile), Drimys Winteri (Chile), and
although they are not atmospheric current, I cannot stop mentioning Selbst
(Venezuela / Chile), Gates of Tyrant (Chile) and Los Males del Mundo
(Argentina)."
4. Since their first album, "Unfading Incorporate Vacuum", in 2016, the band quickly gained worldwide followers and with their second album, "Extinguished Cold Light", in 2019 the way to the consecration and final line up of the band was opened. Taking it to participate in prestigious festivals. Did you expect such a success with so little time of formation?
Ricardo: "The truth was surprising to receive the good reviews that Unfading had, and the interest it generated. It is likely that part of that magic was the good moment the Atmospheric Black Metal subgenre was on in 2016. But I guess I can’t leave out that the constant work we do as a band goes far beyond the musical part, management effort that keeps us always active working on how we can enhance our art, our image, our exposure to the media, etc.
The idea is always to try to be more, give more and reach out to more people, I hope we can achieve it."

5. Their previous album "Extinguished Cold Light", is more direct
than its predecessor, that we can expect the followers of the band of this new
album which is eponymous, and why they decide to name it.
Ricardo: "From an artistic point of view, We think this album is going to be the
definitive consecration of our sound. That is, in the first album we
established our musical proposal, in the second we elaborated it a little more,
and now for our self-titled album we are sure that we have composed a more
mature work that fully expresses who we are and what our characteristic sound
is. This might seem like the reason for naming the album after the band, but
the truth is that we didn't think about it too much, it was quite natural for
us to feel that this new work is very representative of our personality.
Considering our career, it is a bit difficult to know in advance what the
reaction of the public and the media will be. If we look at the scene from a
competitive environment, we are in a period where there are many bands around
the world and the current level of Black Metal is very good. If we also
consider that recording today is much more accessible than it was a couple of
decades ago -and therefore many albums come out every year-, I think it is
difficult to stand out on the global scene. However, we can only trust that we
create a work that fully satisfies us and keep working to spread it as much as
we can. And this energy to continue growing is part of what defines us as a
band, regardless of whether we will continue to be a small band or if the doors
of Olympus open to us after this release."

6. This new album will be their 3rd record production, and the band repeats
with the German artist Chris Kiesling of MISANTHROPIC-ART for the elaboration
of the cover, because they decide to work with him again.
Ricardo: "The truth is that it is easy to justify this choice because we are
very satisfied with the previous works. This time we wanted to take advantage
of his talent with line illustrations rather than his ability to paint on
canvas. Personally, this is my favorite cover of the three, I loved the
illustration of the tree with human figures and Chris was able to fully develop
the concept we gave him to work with."

7. We know that on this new album the guitarist Carlos Fuentes makes his debut
with the band, who also recorded the instruments in his studies, Sonido Origen,
and was also in charge of mixing and mastering with the collaboration of the
other members of the band. band. The other newcomer is Pedro Chávez, how did
Carlos and Pedro arrive at SOL SISTERE?
Ricardo: "We have known each other with Carlos from the beginning, and the truth
is that the relationship between Pablo, Carlos, Pedro and C (our original
vocalist) goes back to before the formation of Sol Sistere, since all four
participated at one point in the band Animus Mortis, which currently continues
with another lineup alongside its only founding member. The funny thing is,
each one played a different instrument in that band: Carlos played drums, Pedro
guitar and Pablo bass. Perhaps things did not happen so that they could be
there from the beginning for different reasons, but when we needed a new
guitarist, Carlos was available and eager to participate. On the other hand,
when we needed a bass player it was also easy to think of Pedro, and luckily he
was fully available. As you will see, we did not have to meet new people for
this stage of the band, we already have a relationship for years and we know
how to work together.
It would be strange to say otherwise, but believe me I mean it with complete
sincerity that this is the best line-up we have ever had, both musically and
personally."

8. What does the band seek to convey with this new album and its music?
Answer: "We wanted to go back a bit to our roots in terms of the kind of atmosphere our
debut had and always keep the melancholy in our chords and melodies. In this
sense, it is our main intention to transport the listener to an introspective
state - which sometimes fluctuates between the emotional and the taciturn - and
to involve him in a journey with as many energetic as ethereal passages.
As I mentioned before, I believe that this album is the consecration of our own
sound and we want it to speak for us to define who we are and show listeners
what to expect when they think of SOL SISTERE."
9. How was the process of composition and recording of the songs for this new
album, taking into account the restrictions due to Covid-19.
Ricardo: "If I'm not mistaken, the first songs were composed in the second half
of 2019 and we ended the mixing and mastering process in May 2021. It was a
process of almost 2 years, but the truth is that it could have been shorter, as
we had to postpone filming due to the pandemic. We finally started the
recordings in October 2020 in the middle of the pandemic, we could hardly
coordinate according to local laws, since currently only two members live in
the same city. Until recently when we did a photo session, we had not been able
to meet all of us since March, when we arrived in Chile to enter quarantine
from Colombia, where we did a tour with Mgła in 3 cities. Originally Mgła would
continue her tour in other countries, but they were forced to cancel it for
reasons that we all know by now, but that is already a separate story. Going
back to recording, we couldn't all get together at the same time, so we had to
adapt and record separately, always with Carlos as the common denominator.
The mixing process was a bit complex because we had to make a series of
decisions and each perceived things differently depending on their speakers and
headphones. Carlos sent us samples and different versions, so we listened to
them and made our comments via WhatsApp. It took us more to reach agreements
than it would have been possible in person, but we finally achieved a result
that left us quite satisfied. Finally, once we were able to establish a
relationship with the Cult of Parthenope label, Giulian made some observations
that he thought pertinent to improve and we had to modify some details, so the
final version of the album was ready last May. It was a difficult process and
slower than usual, but at the same time we know that we achieved the best
production of the 3 albums of our career."
10. We know that Ricardo and Pablo have another Black Metal project, AD FINEM
OMNIA, which already has a 2020 Demo and they are working on a full-length
album that is in the pre-production process, what can you tell us about it?
project, personally from what I have been able to hear is a very different
Black Metal from SOL SISTERE, which sometimes reminds me of the Black Metal
that is made in cold Finland, tell us a little about AD FINEM OMNIA.
Ricardo: "Since our creative efforts are usually focused on a more atmospheric
and ethereal side of Black Metal, we wanted to unleash our more raw, minimalist
and natural side, with shorter but intense songs, responding to a more oriented
type of compositions. to the Finnish and German sound. We always maintain a
melodic approach, but I would say that the intention and the way we apply those
melodies are different from the melancholic and emotional music that we are
used to composing.
Ad Finem Omnia tries to be something visceral, simple even, but totally direct
and dark."

11. We see with curiosity that everyone in the band uses their first name,
except for the vocalist who uses only "S" to identify himself, why is
this?
Ricardo:Everyone has the freedom to appear as they prefer. Nobody else wanted
to choose to use pseudonyms in the band, but curiously and coincidentally, our
vocalists have preferred it that way. The original singer was called Cristóbal
Jorquera and he preferred to appear simply as C. The current one, on the other
hand, is called Alfredo Pérez and his motivation is based more than anything on
differentiating himself from his different bands. He is a very busy musician
who sings on other projects, and the letter S comes from his pen name Sulfur
used in Concatenatus, where he plays drums and sings.

12. What do the members of SOL SISTERE do when they are not making music for
their different projects?
Ricardo: "I think the most important answer is on the side of our respective
jobs. As we know, having a metal band (especially in Latin America) is not a
lucrative activity, so everyone has their own way of making a living. Pablo is
a speech therapist; Carlos is a sound engineer; Pedro lives a country life and
also operates a drone; S is a medical examiner; and I am an English-Spanish
translator.
Besides that, I think something we have in common is that we all enjoy cinema
in its different facets."

13. During your live performances, what do you think was the best, what funny
anecdote you remember, and what is the worst thing that happened to you live.
Ricardo: "It is difficult to choose just one date, but I think I should choose
our presentation in 2019 at the Dark Troll Festival in Germany. I think that in
addition to having given a great show (not the best, but it was good) and
getting a good response from the public, it was the whole context in which that
show took place, in a pleasant festival atmosphere and sharing the stage on the
same day with Influential bands for us like Winterfylleth and Mgła.
An anecdote from that same festival is that there was a place for bands to
relax and drink, something like a VIP sector. We were there and suddenly I
recognized the German band Sarkrista, which I personally like a lot. I wanted
to greet them and talk a bit with them, but they gave me a very cold greeting and
left. We always remember that and laugh about it, but I have no resentment for
his "contempt", perhaps a cold and apathetic attitude is actually
more consistent with his music. On the more positive side, we do share beers
and a good time with other bands, including Winterfylleth, who have been an
influence since our inception. We also met Saor, but especially we got on well
with his guitarist Paolo Bruno, who is the Brazilian genius behind Thy Light,
very friendly."

14. Without further ado for the moment, we thank you for your time in answering
this interview. A few last words that you want to dedicate to your followers
around the world.
"Thank you for your interest in us and our music. And for the fans, get ready
for this new full length called Sol Sistere, because if you appreciate it as
much as we do, you will agree that it is the best we have released to date."
El próximo 15 de octubre se tiene previsto que salga al mercado el nuevo álbum de la brutal banda chilena de Atmospheric/Post-Black Metal, SOL SISTERE, por este motivo decidimos hacerles esta entrevista para conocer más acerca de ellos y de su nuevo trabajo discográfico. Este nuevo álbum será liberado por el sello discográfico Cult of Partenophe.
Primero que nada gracias por aceptar la
entrevista, comenzamos:
1. SOL SISTERE nace en el año 2013, háblennos
un poco acerca de sus inicios, de como ustedes, Ricardo y Pablo (miembros fundadores)
deciden crear una banda de Atmospheric/Post-Black Metal, porque no otro estilo
del Metal.
Ricardo: "En el año 2013, decidí componer un
par de canciones mezclando mis influencias clásicas del Black Metal melódico de
los 90’s como Dawn, Dissection o Sacramentum con las corrientes atmosféricas
actuales, pero las hice más como un ejercicio compositivo que como una
propuesta duradera. Se las mostré a Pablo, a quien venía conociendo hacía poco
tiempo, porque creí que le gustarían. Efectivamente fueron de su agrado y,
conversando sobre influencias, nos dimos cuenta de que nuestro lado Black Metal
era bastante afín. Fue él a quien se le ocurrió la idea de desarrollar ese
concepto musical en una banda real, estable y como un proyecto totalmente
serio, a lo que por supuesto accedí, ya que se trataba de un tipo de música que
nos llenaba bastante a ambos. Juntos seguimos desarrollando el camino musical
que queríamos abordar, conociendo nuevas influencias relevantes actualmente en
la escena y buscando los músicos acordes para formar finalmente la banda. Como
la mayoría de las agrupaciones, el inicio no fue sencillo e involucró a varios
músicos, pero sacamos adelante el primer EP y desde entonces no dejamos de
trabajar.
¿Por qué no otro estilo? No fue una
elección calculada, fue más bien un impulso inevitable debido a nuestros gustos
musicales. Si bien ambos habíamos estado en bandas de otras corrientes de metal
anteriormente, ese punto en nuestras vidas nos llevó a involucrarnos en el Black Metal de lleno."
2. Sabemos que el nombre de la banda SOL
SISTERE, viene del latín "solstitium", que significa “El Sol se queda
quieto”. Independientemente del idioma, desde hace siglos, en diversas
culturas, los solsticios de verano e invierno han sido tomados como épocas de
festividades y celebraciones, ya que indican nuevos inicios. Porque eligieron
este nombre para la banda?
Ricardo: "Efectivamente, “Sol Sistere”
significa literalmente “sol quieto” y todo ese concepto significa “solsticio”
en latín. El sol siempre ha sido muy significativo para muchas culturas, puede
representar la inmortalidad (porque renace cada día), el portador de luz (como
en conocimiento), las fases de la Tierra (o de la vida misma). En nuestro caso,
además de respetar todos estos significados, queremos centrar la idea esencial en
una mirada más humanista y pensar en el sol como el espíritu del ser humano,
siendo el solsticio el punto más alto que podemos alcanzar."
3. Para el año de su formación 2013,
Suramérica no era muy conocida por tener buenas bandas de
Atmospheric/Post-Black Metal, salvo algunas, en los últimos años esta tendencia
ha cambiado y hay muy buenas bandas tanto de Atmospheric como de Post-Black
Metal, a que creen ustedes que se deba esto. Que bandas de esos estilos en
nuestro continente pudieran recomendarnos.
Ricardo: "Siento que de alguna forma, la
escena latinoamericana en general tiende a ser más conservadora y se suele
centrar en tributar a las grandes bandas clásicas de los 90’s. Si bien mencioné
que también fue nuestro caso en un comienzo, a estas alturas ya hemos
abandonado un poco esas influencias de nuestro sonido, ahora que encontramos sin
lugar a dudas un sello más propio. Como consecuencia de que la escena en su
conjunto mire fuertemente hacia el pasado, creo que la innovación y las
tendencias tardan un poco en estallar en esta región. Para inicios de la década
de 2010 había muy pocas bandas de Black Metal que se atrevieran a incorporar
elementos sutiles y ambientales en su sonido.
Algunas bandas que me gustan son: Lluvia
(México), Urantia (Colombia), Thy Light (Brasil), Sunvher (Chile), Missa Mortvm
(Chile), Drimys Winteri (Chile), y aunque no sean de corriente atmosférica, no
puedo dejar de mencionar a Selbst (Venezuela/Chile), Gates of Tyrant (Chile) y
Los Males del Mundo (Argentina)."
4. Desde su 1er disco, "Unfading
Incorporeal Vacuum", de 2016, la banda rápidamente ganó seguidores a nivel
mundial, y ya con su 2do trabajo, "Extinguished Cold Light", de 2019,
sirvió para sentar las bases para la consagración definitiva de la banda,
llevándola a participar en prestigiosos festivales, esperaban ustedes dicho
éxito con tan poco tiempo de formados.
Ricardo: "La verdad fue una sorpresa recibir
las buenas críticas en que tuvo Unfading y el interés que generó. Es probable
que parte de esa magia haya sido un buen momento en que el subgénero del Black Metal atmosférico estaba en auge en 2016. Pero supongo que no puedo dejar fuera
lo que es el trabajo constante que hacemos como banda y que va mucho más allá
de lo musical, el esfuerzo de gestión que nos mantiene siempre activos buscando
cómo podemos potenciar nuestro arte, nuestra imagen, nuestra exposición a los
medios, etc.
La idea es siempre tratar de ser más,
rendir más y llegar a más personas, espero que podamos lograrlo."

5. Su anterior disco "Extinguished
Cold Light", es más directo que su predecesor, que podemos esperar los
seguidores de la banda de este nuevo álbum el cual es homónimo, y porque
deciden ponerle homónimo.
Ricardo: "Desde un punto de vista artístico,
creo que este álbum va a ser la consagración definitiva de nuestro sonido. Es
decir, en el primer álbum establecimos nuestra propuesta musical, en el segundo
la elaboramos un poco más, y ahora para nuestro álbum homónimo estamos seguros
de haber compuesto un trabajo más maduro que expresa por completo quiénes somos
y cuál es nuestro sonido característico. Esto podría parecer la causa de
nombrar el disco como la banda, pero la verdad es que no lo pensamos demasiado,
nos resultó bastante natural sentir que esta nueva obra es muy representativa
de nuestra personalidad.
Considerando nuestra carrera, es un poco
difícil saber de antemano cuál va a ser la reacción del público y de los
medios. Si vemos la escena desde un ámbito competitivo, estamos en un periodo
en que hay muchísimas bandas en todo el mundo y el nivel del Black Metal actual
es muy bueno. Si además consideramos que grabar actualmente es mucho más
accesible de lo que lo era hace un par de décadas atrás -y por ende cada año
salen muchísimos álbumes-, creo que es difícil destacar en el panorama global.
Sin embargo, solo podemos confiar en que creamos una obra que nos satisface por
completo y seguir trabajando para difundirla lo más que podamos. Y esta energía
para seguir creciendo es parte de lo que nos define como banda,
independientemente de si continuaremos siendo una banda pequeña o si se nos
abren las puertas de olimpo tras este lanzamiento."

6. Este nuevo álbum será su 3era producción
discográfica, y la banda repite con el artista alemán Chris Kiesling de
MISANTHROPIC-ART para la elaboración de la portada, porque deciden volver a
trabajar con él.
Ricardo: "La verdad es que es fácil
justificar esta elección porque estamos muy conformes con los trabajos
anteriores. Esta vez quisimos aprovechar su talento con las ilustraciones de
líneas más que con su habilidad de pintar sobre tela. Personalmente, esta es mi
portada favorita de las tres, me encantó la ilustración del árbol con figuras
humanas y Chris fue capaz de desarrollar a cabalidad el concepto que le dimos
para trabajar."

7. Sabemos que en este nuevo disco debutan
con la banda el guitarrista Carlos Fuentes, quien además, en sus estudios,
Sonido Origen, se grabaron los instrumentos y además fue el encargado de la
mezcla y masterización con la colaboración de los demás miembros de la banda.
El otro debutante es Pedro Chávez, como llegan Carlos y Pedro a SOL SISTERE?
Ricardo: "Con Carlos nos conocemos desde los
inicios, y la verdad es que la relación entre Pablo, Carlos, Pedro y C (nuestro
vocalista original) se remonta a antes de la formación de Sol Sistere, ya que
los cuatro participaron en un momento dado en la banda Animus Mortis, que
actualmente sigue con otra alineación junto a su único miembro fundador. Lo
curioso es cada uno interpretaba un instrumento distinto en esa banda: Carlos
tocaba batería, Pedro guitarra y Pablo bajo. Quizás las cosas no se dieron para
que ellos pudieran estar desde el principio por distintos motivos, pero cuando
necesitamos un nuevo guitarrista, Carlos estaba disponible y con ganas de
participar. Por otra parte, cuando necesitamos un bajista también fue fácil
pensar en Pedro, y por suerte estaba con completa disponibilidad. Como verás,
no tuvimos que conocer gente nueva para esta etapa de la banda, ya tenemos una
relación de años y sabemos trabajar juntos.
Sería extraño decir lo contrario, pero
créeme que lo digo con total sinceridad que esta es la mejor alineación que
hemos tenido, tanto en el ámbito musical como en el ámbito personal."

8. Que busca la banda transmitir con este nuevo álbum y su música?
R: "Queríamos volver un poco a nuestras raíces en cuanto al tipo de atmósfera que tuvo nuestro debut y mantener siempre la melancolía en nuestros acordes y melodías. En ese sentido, es nuestra principal intención transportar al oyente a un estado introspectivo –que a veces fluctúa entre lo emotivo y lo taciturno– y envolverlo en un viaje con tantos pasajes energéticos como etéreos.
Como lo mencioné anteriormente, creo que este disco es la consagración de nuestro sonido propio y queremos que hable por nosotros para definir quiénes somos y demostrarle a los oyentes qué esperar cuando piensen en Sol Sistere."
9. Como fue el proceso de composición y
grabación de los temas para este nuevo disco, tomando en cuenta las
restricciones por el Covid-19.
Ricardo: "Si no me equivoco, las primeras
canciones se compusieron en el segundo semestre de 2019 y dimos por terminado
el proceso de mezcla y masterización en mayo de 2021. Fue un proceso de casi 2
años, pero la verdad es que pudo ser más corto, ya que tuvimos que posponer la
grabación debido a la pandemia. Finalmente iniciamos las grabaciones en octubre
de 2020 en plena pandemia, apenas pudimos coordinarnos según las legislaciones
locales, ya que actualmente solo dos miembros vivimos en la misma ciudad. Hasta
hace poco que hicimos una sesión de fotos, no nos habíamos podido reunir todos
desde marzo, cuando llegamos a Chile para ingresar a cuarentena desde Colombia,
donde hicimos una gira junto a Mgła en 3 ciudades. Originalmente Mgła continuaría
su gira en otros países, pero se vieron forzados a cancelarla por las razones
que ya todos sabemos, pero eso es ya una historia aparte. Volviendo a la
grabación, no pudimos reunirnos todos a la vez, por lo que hubo que adaptarnos
y grabar por separado, siempre con Carlos como denominador común.
El proceso de mezcla fue un poco complejo
porque teníamos que tomar una serie de decisiones y cada uno percibía las cosas
de distinta manera según sus parlantes y audífonos. Carlos nos enviaba muestras
y distintas versiones, entonces las escuchábamos y hacíamos nuestros
comentarios vía WhatsApp. Nos costó llegar a acuerdos más de lo que hubiera
sido posible de manera presencial, pero finalmente logramos un resultado que
nos dejó bastante conformes. Finalmente, una vez que conseguimos establecer una
relación con el sello Cult of Parthenope, Giulian hizo algunas observaciones
que creía pertinente mejorar y tuvimos que modificar algunos detalles, por lo
que la versión final del álbum estuvo lista en mayo pasado. Fue un proceso
difícil y más lento de lo usual, pero al mismo tiempo sabemos que logramos la
mejor producción de los 3 álbumes de nuestra carrera."
10. Sabemos que Ricardo y Pablo tienen otro
proyecto de Black Metal, AD FINEM OMNIA, el cual ya cuenta con un Demo 2020 y
están trabajando en un álbum larga duración que está en proceso de pre-producción, que nos pueden decir acerca de este proyecto, en lo personal por lo que he
podido escuchar es un Black Metal muy diferente a SOL SISTERE, el cual en
ocasiones me hace recordar el Black Metal que se hace en la fría Finlandia, háblennos
un poco de AD FINEM OMNIA.
Ricardo: "Dado que nuestros esfuerzos
creativos se centran habitualmente en un lado más atmosférico y etéreo del Black Metal, quisimos dar rienda suelta a nuestra faceta más cruda, minimalista
y natural, con canciones más cortas pero intensas, respondiendo a un tipo de
composiciones más orientadas al sonido finlandés y alemán. Mantenemos siempre
un enfoque melódico, pero diría que la intención y la forma en que aplicamos
esas melodías son distintas a la música melancólica y emotiva que estamos
acostumbrados a componer.
Ad Finem Omnia pretende ser algo visceral,
sencillo incluso, pero totalmente directo y oscuro."

11. Vemos con curiosidad que todos en la
banda usan su nombre de pila, a excepción del vocalista que usa solo
"S" para identificarse, a que se debe esto?
Ricardo: "Cada uno tiene la libertad de
aparecer como prefiera. Nadie más quiso optar por usar seudónimos en la banda,
pero curiosa y coincidentemente, nuestros vocalistas así lo han preferido. El
cantante original se llamaba Cristóbal Jorquera y prefirió figurar simplemente
como C. El actual, por otra parte, se llama Alfredo Pérez y su motivación se
basa más que nada en diferenciarse de sus distintas bandas. Es un músico muy
ocupado que canta en otros proyectos, y la letra S viene de su seudónimo
Sulphur utilizado en Concatenatus, donde toca
batería y canta."
C - Vocalista
12. A que se dedican los miembros de SOL
SISTERE cuando no están haciendo música para sus distintos proyectos?
Ricardo: "Creo que la respuesta más
importante va por el lado de nuestros respectivos trabajos. Como sabemos, tener
una banda de metal (sobre todo en Latinoamérica) no es una actividad lucrativa,
así que cada uno tiene su propia forma de ganarse la vida. Pablo es
fonoaudiólogo; Carlos es ingeniero en sonido; Pedro vive una vida de campo y
además opera un dron; S es médico
forense; y yo soy traductor inglés-español.
Además de eso, creo que algo que tenemos en
común es que todos disfrutamos del cine en sus distintas facetas."

13. Durante sus presentaciones en vivo, cual
consideran que ha sido la mejor, que anécdota divertida recuerda, y que es lo
peor que les ha pasado en vivo.
Ricardo: "Es difícil escoger solo una fecha,
pero creo que debo elegir nuestra presentación en 2019 en el festival Dark
Troll en Alemania. Creo que además de haber dado un gran espectáculo (no el
mejor, pero sí fue bueno) y obtener una buena respuesta del público, fue todo
el contexto en que se dio ese show, en un grato ambiente festivalero y
compartiendo escenario el mismo día con bandas influyentes para nosotros como
Winterfylleth y Mgła.
Una anécdota de ese mismo festival es que
había un lugar para que las bandas se relajaran y bebieran, algo así como un
sector VIP. Estábamos ahí y de pronto reconocí a la banda alemana Sarkrista,
que personalmente me gustan bastante. Quise saludarlos y conversar un poco con
ellos, pero me hicieron un gesto de saludo muy frío y se fueron. Siempre nos
acordamos de eso y nos reímos al respecto, pero no tengo ningún resentimiento
por su “desprecio”, quizás una actitud fría y apática es de hecho más
consecuente con su música. En el lado más positivo, sí compartimos cervezas y
un buen momento con otras bandas, entre ellas Winterfylleth, que han sido una
influencia desde nuestros inicios. También conocimos a Saor, pero especialmente
nos llevamos bien con su guitarrista Paolo Bruno, que es el genio brasileño
detrás de Thy Light, muy amigable."

14. Sin más por los momentos les damos las
gracias por su tiempo en contestar esta entrevista. Unas últimas palabras que
quieran dedicarles a sus seguidores en todo el mundo.
R: "Gracias a ti por el interés en nosotros y
